Since it's founding in 2013 the Annual 3rd of July Fundraiser has helped three families pay for medical equipment, procedures or expenses. Each family was known in the community and recommended to us via a guest of the restaurant due to their financial need for medical expenses. Each year our staff works to put on a fundraising event that brings the community together for these families.
Each event is full of family fun including raffles, live music, BBQ food, and specials, and activities to celebrate the patriotic 4th of July week. It's nothing less than the family-friendly party of the year, just as Jody would've liked it.

Varsity Cares began as a single fundraiser held annually on the 3rd of July on the birthday of our late, beloved owner Jody Mohlar. While Jody lost her battle with cancer on December 3, 2013, her memory and spirit live on through the community and the East Lake Varsity Club staff each year as we give back to those in need.
The 3rd of July Annual Fundraiser began in 2013 as a way to commemorate Jody's giving nature and love for the East Lake community. Since then Varsity Cares has grown to become its own 501c3 (pending approval), hosting an event each year for a family in need of funds for medical expenses.
